Master Barber is a comprehensive course consisting of a minimum of 1500 clock hours of
training as required by the State of Tennessee Board of Cosmetology and Barber Examiners.

A student who completes this course and successfully passes a state board examination will be
prepared for a career in the beauty industry with an entry level position in a barber shop or
beauty salon.

Instructional techniques include written material, printed textbook information, workbook
assignments, written tests, lectures, hands on demonstration, videos, podcasts, and students
will perform skills on clients, other students and/or mannequins.

Training incorporates all phases of hair cutting, styling, coloring, permanent waves, shampooing and scalp massage, relaxers, shaving and trimming of beards, cutting/fitting
hairpieces, noninvasive skincare, waxing, pedicures and manicuring. Theory and practical applications are taught by staff and
supplemented with enhanced classes.

barbers for the State Board licensing exam. The course consists of 3 phases, preparing the
